Karijini National Park

La nuit sur Tom Price a été très froide, on n’était plus habitué à ça.... On est allé au visitor center puis au Coles pour acheter du petit déjeuner pour les jours que nous voulions passer au Karijini National Park. On a trouvé des prises où charger nos ordis, téléphones et appareils photos. Il faut savoir que le visitor centre nous fait payer 2$ par appareil alors qu’il y a juste devant le Coles des poteaux avec des prises électriques ! Puis on a été rejoint par nos 3 pots et aussi 2 belges (Kaspar et Patrick) qu'on avait connu à Coral Bay. Les 3 garçons sont partis en premier car ils voulaient tenter leur business encore une fois, et ça a était un bon succès. Et nous avons suivis les belges vers le Karijini National Park. On est allé dans le camping pour poser nos voitures/van à notre grand emplacement. Puis on a fait une marche vers les piscines naturelles formées dans la Dales Gorge. C'était vraiment magnifique. On s'est baigné dans la Circular Pool, c'était glacé! J’ai hésité à me baigner dans la dernière, Fortescue Falls, mais Laura et Patrick ont sauvé l’honneur en s’y baignant.

Puis on est revenu la nuit tombante, après 2h30 de promenade. On a cuisiné chacun nos repas puis mangé sur la même table, c'était vraiment convivial! Anne-Gaëlle et Nadine (une française et une allemande que l’on a rencontrée sur la route) nous ont rejoints. On a joué un jeu à boire, mais moi j'ai joué avec ma bouteille d'eau! On faisait vraiment du bruit tellement on rigolait. Un des voisins à 21h est venu pour gueuler. On a continué de jouer en essayant de faire moins de bruits (en fait, j'essayais de les calmer mais ça ne marchait que 2min...) Quand j'étais à moitié endormie, j'ai entendu à minuit et demi, la femme du même gars venir énervée pour crier son mécontentement…

 

Après notre petit dej, un ranger est venu pour tous nous mettre dehors et nous interdire l'accès au parc durant 28jours. J'étais tellement dégoutée car c'est le seul parc que je voulais faire vraiment, et avec le manque de sommeil ajouté à ça, je me suis mise à pleurer et je n'arrivais pas à m'arrêter... Le ranger nous a suivis jusqu'en dehors du parc et il nous a demandé de nous arrêter sur le bord de la route. Il nous a dit que ce n'était pas la bonne route pour Port Hedland. Je pense qu'il avait peur qu'on retourne au parc! Et là j'en ai profité d'être un peu calmée pour lui demander si je pouvais quand même retourner au parc. Il savait par les garçons et Laura que je n'étais pas la plus bruyante, il a donc accepté. On est tous allé sur une aire de parking pour que Denis mette ses affaires dans le van des 3 européens et pour que les belges mettent en ordre leur voiture car Denis fera la route avec eux. On est resté pas mal de temps là-bas. La plus part du temps à jeter des cailloux d’abord dans une canette puis dans un verre, la Belgique l’a emporté, ils étaient 3 en même temps ces tricheurs.

Puis ils sont partis et on est retournée au parc avec Laura. C'était très bizarre de se retrouver seule d'un coup comme ça... On a tenté une route normalement déconseillée aux véhicules normaux car on pourrait y crever un pneu. Mais pas pour nous ;) On est allé voir la cascade Kalamina (tout petite mais jolie) puis on a marché un peu dans la gorge. En revenant, on est allé sur une aire de camping gratuit puisqu'on était banni du camping. Au final on y gagnera de l'argent!! J’en ai profité d’être au calme pour mettre à jour mon cv. En effet, après ce parc je tenterais de trouver un boulot en attendant que Laura sera à Bali.

 

Le lendemain, après notre petit dej, on est allé au point de RDV pour voir Anne-Gaëlle qui allait sûrement faire un bout de route avec nous. Quand elle est arrivée elle a confirmé vouloir nous rejoindre dans notre road trip!! Youhou! Je ne serais pas seule normalement quand Laura me quittera!! Puis le reste de son groupe est arrivé pour transférer ses affaires du 4x4 au van. À la base, on devait faire échange de partenaire et Denis devait partir avec eux. Ils étaient un peu dégoutés car du coup, ils devaient partager l'argent avec 4 personnes au final. Je vais la faire courte (oui, je peux aussi le faire!), l'allemande Nadine, va voyager avec nous aussi! Je ne vous dis pas la tête des français qui ne pensaient qu’à l’argent qu’ils perdaient. Du coup, en bonne sadique, j’ai rigolé ! C’est donc à 4 qu’on est allé au parking du visitor centre car c'est le seul endroit goudronné, pour organiser nos affaires dans le van. Mon plan depuis longtemps était de faire du stop pour voir l'autre côté du Park accessible seulement avec un 4x4. C'est ce qu'on a fait avec Laura et on a laissé le van à Anne-Gaëlle et Nadine. On est d’abord retourné à la Kalamina Falls puis à la gorge Weano.

On a pu faire qu'une marche car c'était déjà l'après-midi. Une marche où tu dois passer dans l’eau jusqu’au buste et où tu dois escalader aussi. J’ai aussi glissé et je suis tombée dans l’eau, mais ce n'était pas grave car c’était TROP BEAU je suis trop contente!

Puis on a fait du stop pour le retour aussi. Et ce n'était pas aussi facile qu'à l'aller. Mais on a eu trois 4x4. Puis on a attendu 1h dans le froid au point de rendez-vous et on a commencé à s'inquiéter. Personne... On a commencé à marcher vers le camp où nous pouvions dormir... Personne non plus, à part quelques français qui nous ont proposé de nous conduire un peu dans le parc pour voir si elles n’avaient pas eu un problème avec le van. Au final, quand on est revenue au camp elles étaient là. Elles étaient allées à Tom Price pour acheter à manger et mettre le plein sans demander de l'argent en retour! On a du coup bien mangé ensemble!! 

Notre dernier jour au parc, n’a était consacré qu’à prendre une douche rapide car froide ! Douche au visitor centre à 2$ par personne, que nous avons payé au final qu’un dollar chacune, il n’y a pas de petites économies ;) Puis après 4h de route, nous voilà à Port Hedland. Mais ça, c’est une autre histoire…

The night in Tom Price was really cold, we were not use to it anymore… We went visitor center and Coles to buy breakfast for the few days we wanted to stay in Karijini National Park. We found, just in front of Coles, some power point to plug our phones, laptop and camera. We could do it at the visitor center but it cost 2$ by device. Then our 3 friends joined us and also 2 other Belgians we met in Coral Bay, Kaspar and Patrick. The three Europeans guys left before us because they wanted to try again their business and it was a good success. We fallowed Kaspar and Patrick until Karijini National Park. We left our van in the caravan park; we had a big place for all of us. After that, we started a walk to Dales Gorges. We’ve been first to the Circular Pool, the water was freezing cold! I was not sure to swim so in the Fortescue Falls, but Laura and Patrick saved our honor and they jumped in it. We came back at the twilight and after 2h30 of walk. We all cooked our own food and we all ate at the same big table, I’d liked it! Anne-Gaëlle and Nadine (French and German girls we met on the road) joined us for a drinking game. [Yes, Joppi, I was playing, but with my bottle of water ;)] We made a lot of noise and at 9pm one of our neighbor complained…  We continued to play and tried to make less noise (actually I tried to make less noise!)… When I was already in my bed, I heard at 00.30am the wife of the previous guy complaining (more screaming) again about the noise…

The day after, we just finished our breakfast that a ranger came to kick us out of the park for 28 days! I was SO disappointed, and with all those lack of sleep, I started to cry and I couldn’t stop… The ranger followed us until the exit and he stopped us. He said to us that if we wanted to go to Port Hedland, it was not the good direction. I think he was afraid that we went back to the park! Anyway, I took the chance that he was with us again to ask him if I could go back in the park. He knew by the guys that I was not the noisiest, so he accepted it. We all went in a park area because Denis travel from then on with the guys and we had to organize all our stuffs. We actually staid there more time than we wanted. Indeed, we played to put a stone in a can first then in a cup. Belgium won, but they were 3, cheaters! When they left, with Laura we went back to the park. It was really weird to be alone in a minute, like that… We tried to go to the part with unsealed road, absolutely not recommended to a van like mine because it was dangerous for the tyres. BUT adventure first, no play no game! So we have been to the Kalamina gorges to see the falls and have a walk there. It was small but a nice falls. Then we drove back really slowly and we went to the free camp site. In the end we saved money! I took advantage of this quiet time to update my resume. When Laura will be in Bali, I will work to wait for her.

The next day, we had an appointment, after the brekkie, with Anne-Gaëlle who will probably join us for our next adventures. When she arrived, she confirmed that she wanted to leave with us. Yahoo, I will not be alone when Laura will abandon me! The rest of her group came to put her stuff in my van. They were pretty disappointed because normally we should make an exchange of partners with Denis. They were sad more because they lost money to share the fuel with 4 instead of 5 people. But finally, they were just three because Nadine joined us; she didn’t want to stay with them because they were speaking just French together. So, we four have been to the visitor centre (it’s the only place sealed) to organize our stuffs in my van. Then with Laura we hitchhiked to see the 4WD part and our new traveller mates kept my van. We first went back to the Kalamina Falls because our drivers wanted to have a quick look, then to the Weano gorges. We did a walk there, where you have to walk sometimes in the water and also climb. I felt into the water! It was really beautiful, I was happy! Then we hitchhiked again to go back to the visitor centre. We waited there 1h in the cold. Then we started to walk until the campground. Still nobody; except some French who proposed to us to drive around to see if they had a problem with the van. They actually just went to Tom Price to fuel up the tank and buy some food.

Our last day in this park, we just took a cold shower. At the visitor centre you can pay 2$ for a shower for one person. Of course we paid 2$ for 2 people. Every cent we can save we do it! Then we hit to road to Port Hedland. But this is a new story….
